College Prep Club

 

The PEARL Foundation in conjunction with the Rho Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., (Cobb County) will be sponsoring the College Prep Club. This club is an opportunity for female African-American students in grades 9-11 to participate in club meetings, college info seminars, a college tour, 15 hours of community service and a group community service project.  This is a county-wide opportunity, so apply early!!

FALL COLLEGE TOUR!!

The Fall College Tour is September 8-10, 2013. The tour will visit Mississippi State, University of Alabama, University of Alabama (Huntsville), Vanderbilt, Belmont University, and The University of the South (Sewanee). These schools are known for giving generous financial aid packages to out-of-state students. This trip is open to students who will be seniors, juniors, and sophomores next school year. The trip includes charter bus transportation, hotels, and meals. Information packets are located in the Counseling Office. Sophmore Guidance Lessons

On Nov. 27-30 10th grade students participated in classroom guidance lessons with the counselors. During this time, students were given a personal Career Cruising login, their transcript, and a transcript evaluation check sheet. Information discussed included how to read/check transcripts, HOPE Scholarship/Grant, and Dual Enrollment opportunities.

Senior Guidance Lessons

On Oct 9th-11th seniors participated in classroom guidance focused on life after high school. Each student was given a folder containing useful college, career, and military informations. Students were also given personal login information for www.careercruising.com, where they took a career matchmaker assessment and browsed career/college options based on the assessment results. College Visits at North Cobb

College representatives come to visit with students at North Cobb throughout the year. Due to space availability, these visits are reserved for seniors only. Students can come by the counseling office to sign up for a pass to meet with the college representative. Here are the colleges who will be visiting North Cobb:

• October 26th- University of Kentucky at 2:30 p.m.
• November 1st- Kennesaw State University at 2:30 p.m.
• November 8th - GA Southwestern University at 9:00 a.m.
• November 14th - Agnes Scott College at 10:00 a.m.
