8-26: AP World History

No homework other than the completion of chapter 5 as mentioned in class.

As far as the Book Review due next Tuesday:  Here are the instructions from the Summer Reading: 
o    Students will write an 800-1000 word book review.  In the review students will discuss the historical settings, analyze the author’s thesis or plot, examine the author’s evidence or characterization, and evaluate the overall validity of the book. 
o    Please pay attention to these requirements.  You need not agree with everything the author asserts.  EVALUATE!

I will be finding out about "turnitin.com" this week.

Choose a 1/2 hour period between 8 and 10, during which the Democratic Party Convention is being broadcast.   You may watch on television, or you can visit the Convention website.

8-23: AP World

Please read Plato's Allegory of the Cave.  Complete a Doc. Review on it.  You will be turning this one in BEFORE we discuss it in class, so please take it seriously.

Also, remember that starting Monday you can correct answers from last Thursday's test.  I'll be in room 3055 between 7:30 and 8:00.

8/21: AP World

Congrats on getting through your first test.. hopefully you felt pretty good abou it.  If not, please do not lose hope.  Keep doing the work that goes along with the course, and the testing will become more predictable. 

Remember, you may turn in your answers on paper, or you may post your answers as replies to this posting.  One option uses paper, the other exposes your thoughts to the class. Which do you prefer? :-)

From the Human Record Reader, Vol 1:  Read sources 26 and 27, which both deal with medicine.  Please answer the following:

What do the two pieces have in common, besides just medicine?  (think about the approach.  Are the religious, or are they secular, what scientific evidence is used, etc.)

Which medicinal approach are you more comfortable with?  Explain your answer.
